              Event Description:

              The 3rd Annual Battle for the Paddle Gumbo Cook-off takes place on Saturday, February 10 at the Beauregard Parish Fairgrounds in DeRidder, LA.  Under the outdoor pavilion.

               

              Visit each chef's outdoor kitchen and sample their creations! Anyone can enter from Amateur to Professional for a chance at prizes and bragging rights. Cooking begins at 7:00 until 11:30.  Winners announced at 1:30 PM.

               

              $100 Entry Fee 

              Prizes to be awarded in 3 Divisions:
              Business/Commercial Division
              Civic Organization Division
              Individual Division

              Overall Fan Favorite voted on by public taste testing.

              1st place : Custom Trophy Paddle & Custom Apron (3)
              2nd & 3rd Custom Apron (3)
              Fan Favorite in each category-Custom Trophy Paddle

              GUMBO COOK-OFF

              1.    No open fires (gas, coals OK)

              2.    10’X10′ canopy allowed per entry

              3.    Participants are encouraged, but NOT REQUIRED to prepare enough food to allow patrons to taste, within reason. (we will provide 4 oz. bowls and sporks for tasting). Don’t prepare more than you are comfortable with for your recipe’s best taste. Prepare for a minimum off 100 community tasting cups and judges tasting bowls.

              5.    Tasting is on a first come first serve basis and participant may stop providing samples at their discretion in order to have enough food for judges tasting.

              6.    Set up & cooking time will be from 7:00 until 11:30 on Saturday.

              7.    Dishes MUST be ready for judging by 11:30 pm.

              8.    Winners announced 1:30 pm.
